Corymbia tessellaris "Moreton Bay Ash"

A tall, upright tree native to North Eastern Australia. Named tessellaris due to the dark tessellated bark around the base of the tree (the bark higher up is smooth and white). The timber is also known as "Carbeen"; it is very hard and dense and used for wharf and bridge construction amongst other things. Creamy white flowers provide food for bees and honeyeaters. Tolerates salty winds.
